Not quite an India pale ale, nor an American pale ale, we brew Raised by Wolves to highlight the rich flavors and aromas of hops rather than bitterness. This beer has aromas reminiscent of lush tropical, citrus and stone fruits with a juicy body you can sink your teeth into.

Belgian-Style Witbier

This refreshing style of beer is brewed with an abundance of red wheat, white wheat, torrified wheat, and oats. The beer is gently hopped with Tettnang and Perle. Then, it’s finished with classic spices coriander and orange peel.

The Chr. Heurich Brewing Co. Senate Beer — a classic corn lager — brand was popularized in the 1890s, survived Prohibition, and was produced until 1956. Right Proper’s Senate Beer revival was developed by analyzing a 20-page laboratory report on Senate Beer from 1948 to recreate the historic, DC hometown favorite.

For this spring saison, the saison yeast is complemented by restrained additions of hibiscus, lemon peel, and grains of paradise to make for a slightly tart brew with notes of pear, cherry, and red currant. This balanced, light bodied, and bubbly beer has a subtle pink hue from the hibiscus and is sure to be refreshing as the weather starts to warm.

This Bock is a recreation of Christian Heurich’s Senate Bock, originally released as a seasonal lager in Washington D.C. during the 1930s and 40s. German specialty malts provide flavors of toasted bread crust and caramel, with a noble hop aroma. This beer is brewed in collaboration with the Heurich House Museum and Lost Lagers.

Italian Pilsner brewed with Mediterranean-grown heirloom Pilsner Malt. Hopped with Perle, Select, and Saphir. Lightly dry-hopped with Saphir. Mildly bitter with lots of Noble aroma and light malt backbone with notes of crackers and honey. Spunded to carbonate naturally. Buona birra, bevila! Saluti!

This recipe, developed in collaborations with our friends at the Heurich House Museum and at Lost Lagers, aims to be a faithful recreation of the Maerzen that at one time “had a very splendid vogue in the capital.” Using notes from Paul Kaiser’s 1933 brewing notebook and Christian Heurich’s books, press releases, and advertisements- we bring you this medium-bodied, malty amber lager with subtle notes of toasted bread, balanced by a touch of “Bavarian and Bohemian” hops.
